I shot this image in the same session as this shot. This is my "old man" pug Louie, who we rescued in Los Angeles about five years ago. We think he's around 10 years old and he's now completely deaf and blind in one eye. He's the dog that started my love affair with pugs and he'll always have a special place in my heart. I love him madly. Hell, everyone who meets him does too.

One of my favorite shots ever. I took this of my brother's first child, Sylvia, on what I believe was her first birthday. They were visiting California from the east coast and I drove down to see them in Palm Springs and spent the day there. I shot this with a point-and-shoot digital camera. We were eating on the patio of a local deli and Sylvia met a dog there. They fell for each other, naturally.

Another image from the archives -- this one of the great Emmylou Harris that I shot at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 2007, which if you haven't gone is worth checking out at least once (though be wary while it's free, it's really crowded). This year, in fact, is its 10th anniversary.  It's coming up the first week in October. I've always loved the clarity and color of this image. Knowing what I know about photo editing now, I might have cropped this one but I decided to leave it as I original edited it.

I shot this out the window of my hotel room in Florence. It was raining and I was exhausted -- more than a week into my three-week tour of Italy and I was still getting my traveling legs.

So you know I'm already behind on this blog, but I've also been so busy that there have been days where I have not even had time to take a photograph at all. I wish I could have kept up with my promise to get in a photo a day, but I'm going to take a bow to my crazy live and hope y'all are okay with it.  I'm also going to take the opportunity to post some of my favorites of my photos from days and years past. This is one I shot last year in Italy that I've always been proud of.  Of course, everybody who goes to Florence shoots the Ponte Vecchio but I just love the light and detail of this shot, and also the reflections of the building in the water.

I loved our trip to Italy, especially Venice where we headed after our four days in Florence. Maybe I'll have a chance to post a couple of images from there.
